
Kevin Welch
President, Smith Technologies™ and Chief Technology Officer (CTO), J M Smith CorporationKevin is president of Smith Technologies (representing the QS/1®, Integra®, PUBLIQ™, and PowerLine™ brands) and CTO of the J M Smith Corporation. Kevin became part of J M Smith with the acquisition of the company he founded in 1997, Integra. He holds degrees in mathematics, computer science, operations research, and engineering management from Stanford University and has served in senior positions at Genentech, Symantec, and Microsoft. During his career, he has designed and developed many industry-leading software applications and systems. Kevin is an avid competitive sailor, skier, swimmer, and mountain biker.

Joe joined J M Smith in 1996 as a hardware technician at QS/1 and in 1998 was part of the creation of QS/1’s Network Solutions Group. In 2004, J M Smith acquired Integral Technical Services of Greenville, SC, and formed Integral Solutions Group (ISG) as a separate business unit where he was integration manager. As the division grew, Joe held many key positions with ISG and became the divisional president in 2016. In September 2018, he became vice president of human resources. With diverse training in many technical disciplines and a people approach to leadership, Joe brings a unique perspective to human resources. When not at work, he enjoys spending time with his family and riding his motorcycle.

Dennis makes sure it all comes together. With 30+ years of experience in healthcare, he has served many roles in the long-term care industry. From clinic administrator to benefits manager and CFO of an LTC hospital, Dennis is a valuable resource for customers. He holds a BA in biology and an MBA in finance.

Marc began working at QS/1 in 1986 and has held several positions in hardware and hardware support. From 1996 to 2000, he served as cabling operations manager for the Network Solutions Group. In August 2000, Marc was promoted to manager of the Southeast Region. He oversaw a staff serving customers in 10 states. In 2018, he brought his talents to client services, and in 2019, Marc was promoted to vice president of field operations. He oversees three regions, implementation, hardware, and new systems. Outside of work, Marc enjoys international/island travel and sports.

Dan brings over 30 years of software development experience to the table – from off-the-shelf software to large, distributed, mission-critical, enterprise-class systems. His continuous goal is to produce high-quality software that meets customers’ needs. Dan has a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Science from Seattle University. During his down time, he can be found wood working or riding his motorcycle in Skagit Valley and around Mount Baker in Washington.

Abel Cruz is vice president of cloud computing. Through his speaking, writing, and professional work, he helps people around the world understand, use, and make better decisions about new technology, particularly as it relates to cloud computing. Early in his career, Abel developed avionics software for the Boeing 777 airplane. He worked at Microsoft for 21 years, filling various technical, business, and leadership roles. Prior to joining Smith Technologies, Abel worked at Amazon Web Services, driving cloud adoption with customers in regulated industries. Abel holds a BS in electrical engineering, a minor in mathematics, and an MBA in management and strategy. Whether it’s performing his duties as a trustee of Bloodworks Northwest and a board member for the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) or engaging in community activities, Abel is 100% present. He enjoys being part of his community and spending time in the great outdoors with his family.

Mike has more than 40 years of experience in healthcare technology, and his professional background encompasses the automation of several areas of healthcare including: pharmacy, dental, medical, pharmacy benefits management, finance, claims adjudication, transaction switching, point-of-sale, and home health.
Mike joined QS/1 in March 2019. His duties encompass leading sales efforts across the business units as well as assisting in the expansion of service offerings that assist current and future clients with their businesses. Mike earned his bachelor’s degree with an emphasis in athletic medicine from the University of South Carolina and is a member of the following industry groups: National Council of Prescription Drug Programs, Health Information Management Systems and Services, and the American Society for Automation in Pharmacy.

Mario obsessively ensures client success with our products through the industry-leading Client Services organization. With an undergraduate degree in biochemistry, a Master of Information Systems, and 20 years of information technology leadership, Mario brings a diverse perspective to helping clients achieve their business outcomes. He can usually be found outdoors, when not in the office.

Tabb joined Smith Technologies in August 2018 as part of the company’s transition to a product management structure. Prior to joining the Smith Technologies’ team, Tabb was Commander of the U.S. Navy’s Electronic Attack Wing, which provides globally deployed services to all branches of the U.S. military and allied partners. He also has experience leading a large production organization training pilots and electronic warfare officers, as well as commanding an operational unit supporting combat operations. Tabb earned a BS in chemistry from Millsaps College and an MS in resource strategy with a concentration in supply chain management from the Eisenhower School in Washington, D.C. He is an outdoor enthusiast who enjoys family time, water sports, flying, biking, and horseback riding.

Brent joined QS/1 as finance manager in 1999. Prior to that, he was an accounting manager with St. Joseph’s/Candler Health System in Savannah, GA, where his responsibilities included general ledger, accounts payable, budgeting, decision support, tax, fixed assets, and payroll. Shortly after joining QS/1, he began making numerous improvements to increase the efficiency and effectiveness of the finance/accounting department. In May 2004, his role expanded to include overseeing license agreements, contracts, and other legal-related items. Brent was promoted to director of finance in March 2006 and vice president in October 2013. Brent holds a Bachelor of Science in Finance from the University of South Carolina, Columbia, and is a Certified Management Accountant (CMA). He also has an MBA from the Moore School of Business, University of South Carolina, and is a member of the Institute of Management Accountants.

In 1982, Ed joined QS/1 as a software technician. He served in several managerial positions throughout the company before being promoted to corporate accounts executive in 1996. In 2004, Ed was promoted to field operations manager and then to field operations director in 2006, overseeing central training and QS/1 Regional Offices. In April 2012, he was promoted to vice president of national sales, and in 2015, he became vice president of operations. In March 2019, Ed became vice president of hardware solutions where his experience is invaluable. Ed graduated from East Tennessee State University with a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science. In his free time, he enjoys time spent with family and water sports.

In July 2018, Sheila Warfield joined Smith Technologies as the vice president of marketing. Sheila’s inspiration comes from creative problem-solving and developing and leading teams. Her more than 25 years of marketing experience working for Fortune 500 companies has taught her to always put customers first and to trust in her team and organization to deliver unexpected business results. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and a Master of Arts in Advertising from Michigan State University.
